Swiss Hiking Night 27. – 28. June 2026

Full moon night hike to the Jazzilücke

An unforgettable nature experience
Experience the magic of the Valais mountains at night: In the light of the full moon, this impressive tour leads through wild high valleys, over historic passes and to a spectacular highlight – the sunrise in the Jazzilücke with an unobstructed view to the east.

Tour description
From Saas-Almagell, the trail leads up to Furggstalden and on into the secluded Furggtal valley. The path runs pleasantly along the valley floor and allows you to immerse yourself in the peaceful mountain world at night.
At the Antrona Pass, you reach the Swiss-Italian border. The trail continues to climb over extensive rock slabs and leads to the Jazzilücke – partly exposed and secured with holding ropes. Surefootedness and a head for heights are essential here. With a bit of luck, you may spot ibex or chamois along the way in the stillness of the night and early morning.

After around 5½ hours of pure hiking time, we reach the highlight of the tour: sunrise on the Jazzilücke – an unforgettable moment high above the Alps. The original Ofental valley opens up behind the Jazzilücke. The trail leads through rocky slopes and later through a wide valley floor with a rushing stream down to the Mattmark reservoir.

Hiking means more to me than climbing a prominent mountain or circling a lake. Hiking means for me to experience the beauty of the Swiss landscape, nature and culture, to be amazed again and again and to understand more and more.

I enjoy working with people and imparting new knowledge to them. In the process, I usually learn something new myself, whether from the participants or from nature itself. Always fascinating and lasting for me.
